Innovate Welcomes Local MSP as Part of their 25th Anniversary Celebrations

Claire Baker MSP, visited Kirkcaldy-based food producer, Innovate Foods on Monday 3rd March 2014 to tour the facility and meet staff.

Mrs Baker, who is the MSP for Mid Scotland and Fife as well as co-convenor of the Scottish Parliament cross-party food group and Shadow Cabinet Secretary for Rural Affairs and the Environment was keen to visit the local food producer.

The third generation family firm, which employs around 30 full time staff can trace its roots back to the 1930’s and currently produces in excess of 12 million portions annually for the UK foodservice sector and exports throughout the world. The company is the UK market leader in coated mushrooms and breaded appetizers and starters. Innovate Foods is currently celebrating 25 years in business this year.

Innovate Foods managing director Tony Dumbreck said: “We were delighted to welcome Claire Baker onsite. We recently met Claire at a Parliamentary event and she was very interested in finding out more about our business.”

Claire Baker MSP said: “I was delighted to visit Innovate Food as they celebrate their 25th anniversary and see first-hand the work in running such a successful local business. The reach of Innovate Food, not just here in Scotland but across Europe and throughout the world is a great success story for Kirkcaldy and of great benefit to the local economy.”

She added: “With the last few years being undoubtedly tough on business of all sizes it is great to see a local company that is at the forefront of their industry and able to provide jobs to the area. It was great to hear the future plans for the company and I hope the business continues to go from strength to strength in the years ahead.”
