Innovate Foods is a producer of bespoke starters, appetizers and menu components for the food service sector. Based in Fife, Scotland, we have a reputation for high quality products and good customer service. We are a privately-owned company and are celebrating twenty-eight years in business this year. With a team of just under fifty people, we have ambitious growth plans to expand to new products, new markets and new customers.

This is an exciting role for a mechanical/electrical engineer. You will work as part of the production team to keep the plant and machinery running. This will include the repair of machinery breakdowns and managing the ongoing preventative maintenance programme to reduce machine breakdowns and maximize machine availability and efficiency. You will also assist in new machinery instillations and liaise with the Facilities Manager and the production team to ensure production needs are met.  You will ensure all the planned and preventative documentation is updated and current and that spares are available for all equipment. The role will also include supporting factory operatives in performing machinery changes and setting, ensuring minimum downtime.

The successful candidate will have experience of working on a production line or with machinery in a manufacturing environment. This will include mechanical fitting, repairing and planned and unplanned maintenance. Mechanical engineering experience is essential and some electrical knowledge is advantageous.  Ideally you will have a qualification in mechanical and/or electrical engineering although this is not essential if your experience is right for the role. You will have good technical problem solving abilities, be planned and organised, be able to make prompt and clear decisions and want to do a good job. As you will be part of the production team, you will be able to communicate well to others. Being flexible around hours worked is also essential, as is an ability to cope with pressures and setbacks. The role involves occasional call out. It is therefore advantageous that you live within 15-20 minutes’ travel of the Innovate Foods factory. Fluency in English is a requirement for the role.
